But it's more "elegant" to fix the date/time. I realize I could just hang a column off the end and select out the datevalue of mm-dd-yyyy to achieve my desired granularity. This gives me two columns from the date/time value - the "date" I import as a Date format, and for the "time", I select the "Do not import column (skip)" option. What ends up being the easiest/fastest/best way to handle these date/time values is to run the "Text to Columns" wizard, and parse the column based on space. However, my data almost always contains 1 or more "date/time" fields, which Excel decides has to be displayed as "time", which is fine. I frequently copy data from SQL into Excel. There is no way to pick a "default" delimiter for text import/paste.File this under Excel Quirks that Drive Me Nuts:
